Knowledge processing platform
Build knowledge around the requirement, not the other way around. Ursa Sourcework transforms curated source collections into structured Knowledge Packs designed for AI products, applications and organizations.
Most systems are given access to whatever already exists in a general collection and are expected to work it out from there. The knowledge was not assembled for them. It is too broad in the places where depth matters, and too shallow in the one area the product was built to handle.
A system that needs to reason about marine ecosystems does not need a slightly larger general database. It needs a different composition of knowledge.
Ursa Sourcework is a platform for turning collections of source material into structured, reusable Knowledge Packs. Source material is selected, curated and combined according to the subject, specialization, depth and intended use of the project it is being built for.
Think of it as formulation rather than storage. A little of one domain. More of another. Deep specialization where it is required. Private material where appropriate. What comes out is a knowledge package built for a particular purpose.
You tell us what the system needs to know. We establish the subject areas, the intended depth, the source requirements and the intended use.
Relevant source material is selected and assembled. Depending on the project, this can combine existing source collections with material you provide.
The digital source material is provided to Ursa Sourcework, which processes it into structured knowledge while maintaining source relationships and traceability.
The processed knowledge is assembled according to the requirements of the project. Different sources and knowledge areas can contribute different levels of depth.
The resulting pack is made available to the authorized application, product or client system through the appropriate integration layer.
A Knowledge Pack is a processed and structured body of knowledge prepared for controlled consumption by one or more authorized products or systems. Where permissions and requirements allow, the same pack can serve several authorized products without the underlying source collection being processed again.
That keeps the knowledge layer reusable while the consuming products stay independent of each other.
A broad foundational collection across a general subject area — science, history, philosophy, psychology, literature. The ground floor that specialization is later built on.
Substantially greater depth in one defined field: marine biology, microbiology, industrial maintenance, architecture, a specific historical period.
Base packs, specialized packs and customer-specific sources combined in deliberately selected proportions, designed around a stated requirement.
Built for one customer or organization. Can hold reference sources, specialized sources and customer-provided material, tied to that customer's requirements rather than a catalog.
Intended for restricted use by a particular customer, organization, application or authorized group. Not intended to enter a generally shared knowledge offering.
A classification for source material that requires a higher level of confidentiality and controlled access, handled as a restricted pack throughout its life.
Assembled around the materials associated with an individual — documents, writings, correspondence, records, photographs — for uses such as personal archives.
Proportions are chosen, not inherited. A pack can be weighted toward broad foundation, toward one deep specialization, or toward material that only you hold.
= Custom Marine Research Knowledge Pack
A customer is developing an AI product that requires strong scientific grounding with particular expertise in marine biology. Rather than pointing the system at an undifferentiated general database, the project is constructed from general science sources, marine biology sources, oceanography, selected academic material and the customer's own research.
Ursa Sourcework processes that corpus and prepares a purpose-built pack for the application. The knowledge package is designed around the requirement.
A Knowledge Pack is not permanently bound to a single application. Where permissions allow, the same structured knowledge can serve more than one authorized product or client system, each staying independent of the others.
Sourcework handles the physical side — registering books, inventory, identifiers, tracking and preparing material for digitization. Ursa Sourcework begins once the material is digital.
Knowledge assembled for an intended use rather than simply accumulated.
Processed knowledge retains meaningful relationships to the material underneath it.
Knowledge is organized into packs that can be combined as requirements change.
A properly prepared pack can serve more than one authorized system.
Private and restricted material stays distinguishable from generally reusable material.
The value is not possessing source material. It is turning it into usable, structured knowledge.
